Healthwatch South Tees support us to engage with local people across the South Tees area (Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland), utilising a variety of methods. We jointly plan this engagement work with Healthwatch by setting priorities and working with Healthwatch South Tees to design activities and analyse feedback. This work is undertaken by Healthwatch South Tees in addition to the engagement they do through their statutory role that identifies and informs their own priorities.
Healthwatch South Tees support our engagement in various ways, including:
- Assisting us to plan and deliver consultations / engagement exercises with local people, using surveys, focus groups etc.
- Communicating key messages using their website, social media profiles and e-bulletin.
- Engaging with seldom-heard groups through their Community Champions network – Community Champions represent lots of different communities, including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+), people with autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions, people living with sensory impairments, ethnic minority communities, children and young people and many more.
Healthwatch South Tees’ purpose as an organisation is to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people who use health and social care services and to speak out on their behalf with service deliverers, commissioners and strategic decision makers.
