A TEESSIDE taxi company is helping the local NHS accelerate the covid vaccination programme across Tees Valley.
Boro cars have taken a delivery of 500 stickers for their vehicles and 5000 business cards to hand out to passengers to help remind them of the importance of the covid-19 and flu jabs and to help them find their nearest walk-in clinic.
Dr Janet Walker, Medical Director, NHS Tees Valley Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “The vaccination programme across Tees Valley is going really well but we need to make sure that no one is left behind.
“The cards, that we are asking taxi drivers to hand out to their customers, will provide a link to local clinics and hopefully remind them to get their 1st dose, 2nd dose, flu jab or Covid-19 booster jab.”
Millions of people have had their COVID-19 vaccination in the UK. It is the best way to prevent death or serious illness from COVID-19.
The vaccination programme is open to everyone aged 12 and over and boosters are currently being given to people aged 40 and over.
Everyone over the age of 12 can now book via the National Booking System https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/ and those aged 16 and over can visit a walk-in clinic.
“It’s really important, especially coming up to winter that everyone who is eligible gets their jab to ensure as a community we have as much protection as possible over the coming months” added Dr Walker.
“If you’re eligible it’s never too late to have a first or second Covid vaccination and having a booster and a flu jab will help reduce the chances of you, or your loved ones, becoming seriously ill and ending up in hospital.”
